Premio NY

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation , Directorate General for Cultural Promotion and Cooperation and the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies at Columbia University, New York established the New York Prize, a scholarship programme reserved for young emerging Italian artists now in its seventh year.

The prize-winners will be offered the possibility spending four or eight months in New York at the Italian Academy in accordance with the term dates of Columbia University (September/December and January/April), in order to develop their creative skills while being exposed to the cultural and artistic ambience of New York. The chosen artists will also be expected to take part in the cultural events and activities of the Italian Academy and at the end of their stay to prepare a solo exhibition, normally held at the Academy.

The scholarships include the following benefits:
1. A monthly contribution towards living costs;
2. Accommodation and Studio;
3. Return tickets to the USA;
4. Insurance coverage for health expenses, accidents, or illness;
5. Assistance and facilitation for the request of the visa necessary to the scholarship.

Application Requirements
Applicants for the scholarship should:
1. Be artists active in the field of visual arts;
2. Be Italian citizens under the age of 40;
3. Have had at least one personal exhibition;
4. Have an adequate knowledge of the English language.
