Music of the Italian Renassaince - Recital by Simone Vallerotonda, Lute

On the occasion of the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition at the National Gallery of Ireland we present Simone Vallerotonda in Secundum Naturam, lute music from the 16th century.In the Reinassance architecture, music, poetry, theatre, and society all look to the Greek model of perfection and beauty. Nature is seen as harmony, proportion, symmetry. Man is at the centre of the Universe. Happiness is praised in all its forms as the search for and knowledge of one’s self within the System of Nature.Born in Rome, Simone Vallerotonda began to study music on the classical guitar. Interested in early music, he studied lute with Andrea Damiani in Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. He has performed both as soloist and basso continuo player on plucked instruments in international music festivals and venues. He teaches Lute at the Conservatory L. Refice of Frosinone (IT) and baroque Guitar at the Conservatory G. B.
